Lake Forest Defends All Three USHA Collegiate National Championships (Again)

The Forester handball teams finished first in the men's, women's, and combined team standings at the United States Handball Association Collegiate National Championships over the weekend. Senior Nikolai Nahorniak claimed a national title in Open Doubles and Singles.

A day after teaming with fellow Forester senior Victor Perez to win the Open Doubles championship, Nahorniak knocked off Perez 21-13, 21-4 in the Open Singles final.

Freshman Sandy Ng came up just short in her bid to bring the Women's Open Singles title to Lake Forest as well. She was defeated 21-12, 21-16 in the championship match.

Other divisional titles were won by Lake Forest senior Pat Jarvis (21-9, 21-9) in Men's B Singles and junior Ann Szutenbach (14-21, 21-3, 11-4 over sophomore Amalia DeSardi) in Women's B Singles. In addition, sophomore Geoff Douglas posted a 21-12, 21-15 victory in the Men's Division II A Singles final and freshman Aimee Fadden won 21-8, 21-6 in the Women's Division II Intermediate Singles championship.

Lake Forest's titles are their third in a row in all three divisions. The program has now claimed 16 men's, nine women's, and 14 combined national titles.
