The Lake Forest College handball team had eight different players qualify for singles finals in their respective divisions on Saturday. Forester seniors Nikolai Nahorniak and Victor Perez captured the Open Doubles title and will face one another for the Open Singles championship on Sunday.
Nahorniak and Perez defeated Lake Forest senior Pat Jarvis and sophomore Isaac Acosta 21-5, 21-8 in the Open Doubles championship match. Nahorniak also knocked off Acosta 21-9, 21-5 in the Open singles semifinals to earn a spot in the final with Perez, who won his semifinal match 21-9, 21-15.
The Foresters also boast a Women's Open Singles finalist after freshman Sandy Ng prevailed 21-11, 21-15 in her semifinal.
Jarvis has won four of his five matches in the tournament, including a 21-17, 21-18 decision in the B Singles semifinals. He'll compete in that final on Sunday.
Junior Ann Szutenbach (21-15, 21-9) and sophomore Amalia DeSardi (21-15, 21-14) won in the semifinals of the Women's B Singles division and will meet in the final on Sunday.
Sophomore Geoff Douglas advanced to the final in the Men's Division II A Singles bracket while freshman Aimee Fadden rattled off three straight wins to reach the final in the D-II Intermediate Division.
Lake Forest will look to compete its defense of the men's, women's, and combined team titles on Sunday.
