A Dozen Lake Forest Players Earn All-Midwest Conference Honors

The 2009 All-Midwest Conference football teams were released Tuesday (November 17) and 12 Lake Forest College players were recognized for their acheivements this season.

Senior wide receiver Dan Carter (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator) was the Foresters' lone first team selection. He earned the honor for the third straight season after being named Second Team All-MWC as a freshman. Carter ranked second in the league with 999 receiving yards and a school record 77 receptions. He also finished tied-for-third with 11 touchdown catches, matching his total from both his freshman and sophomore seasons. Carter finished his career as the Foresters' career leader with 221 receptions, 3,422 receiving yards, 40 touchdowns, and 242 points.

Senior defensive lineman Jaron Eanes (Cleveland, Ohio/Lake Forest Academy), senior linebacker Chad Zimborski (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North), and sophomore safety Luke Butts (Warrensburg, Ill./Warrensburg) were Second Team All-MWC honorees. Eanes made 61 tackles on the season and ranked second in the league with 17.0 tackles for loss and tied-for-second with 7.5 sacks. His 39.5 career tackles for loss rank third in team history. Zimborski led the team and ranked fourth in the conference with 97 tackles on the year. He also picked off two passes and recorded 8.5 tackles for loss. Zimborski finished his career ranked fourth in program history with 314 career tackles. Butts tied for the league lead with four interceptions and ranked seventh in the conference with 85 tackles. Eanes and Zimborski were also second team selections as sophomores and all three players earned honorable mention last year.

Lake Forest's Honorable Mention selections on Tuesday included junior offensive lineman Dan Steck (Waterloo, Ill./St. Louis University), sophomore defensive lineman Casey Flynn (Morristown, N.J./Morristown), senior linebacker Donovan Baldridge (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade), junior linebacker Tanner Compton (Excello, Mo./Macon), and senior cornerback Lorenzo Ramirez (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver). They combined for 208 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three interceptions, 12 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries this season. Baldridge was also an honorable mention selection in 2008.

Earning honorable mention for their work on special teams were senior kickoff specialist Noah Dion (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaker Heights), sophomore returner and coverage man Kevin Davis (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin), and freshman returner Josh Poel (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven). Davis made nine special teams tackles this year and Poel averaged 6.9 yards per punt return and 21.5 yards per kickoff return.

The Foresters finished the season with an overall record of 2-8 and finished tied-for-seventh in the league standings with a conference mark of 2-7.
