The Lake Forest College men's soccer team recorded its third
consecutive shutout on Tuesday (September 22), a 5-0 blanking of
visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Foresters raised their
record to 3-4-0 while the Warriors fell to 2-5-1.
The only goal of the first half was scored by Lake Forest sophomore
Nelson Dorvlo (St. Louis, Mo./University City) just 9:20 into the
game.
Dorvlo netted his second score of the contest just 3:43 into the
second half. His third goal of the season was assisted by junior
Kahiye Hassan (Portland, Maine/Waynflete School). Sophomores
Stephen Egan (York Harbor, Maine/Berwick Academy), Raul Ardelean
(Arad, Romania/Col. Nat. "Moise Nicoara"), and Matt DeMaris
(Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added insurance goals at 54:03, 70:00, and
75:00, respectively. They were the first career goals for each
player. Freshman Garrett Donnelly (Newport, Vt./Stanstead College)
recorded his first career point by assisting on Egan's score and
fellow freshman Miles Kerr (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Preparatory
School) did the same on Ardelean's. Sophomore Chris Haught-Thompson
(Westchester, Ohio/Lakota East) also earned his team-high third
assist of the year on Ardelean's goal.
Junior goalkeeper and reigning Midwest Conference Defensive
Performer of the Week Tom Biesiada (Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake
Central) made three saves and held Wisconsin Lutheran scoreless for
the game's first 75 minutes before giving way to sophomore Trevor Pontillo (Winthrop Harbor, Ill./Zion Benton), who finished the
shutout effort.
Lake Forest will play again Wednesday night (September 23) at
Benedictine University. The game will begin at 7:00.
