John Preston Named Preseason All-American by USA Football Network

John Preston Named Preseason All-American by USA Football Network

The USA Football Network recently announced the USA College Football 2014 Preseason All-America teams and Lake Forest College's John Preston made the list.

Preston, a senior linebacker, was a First Team All-Midwest Conference selection in 2013 after leading the Foresters with 72 tackles on the season. He also recorded a team-high four interceptions and contributed to two more turnovers, forcing one fumble and recovering another. He made at least four tackles in all 10 of Lake Forest's games and tallied eight or more seven times.

Despite moving to linebacker from fullback during his freshman year, Preston has made 193 tackles in his career, including 15.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. He was named MWC Defensive Performer of the Week as a freshman and earned D3football.com Team of the Week honors last season.

Lake Forest is coming off back-to-back 8-2 seasons and has won 15 of 18 league games during that span.

The USA Football Network was founded in 1988 by members of the Metropolitan New York Football Writers Association, the nation's first football writers' organization that began in 1935, with a mission to develop a national portal for college, high school and professional teams, conferences, leagues, events, honors and awards.
