Lake Forest College cross country runner Yaneli Guajardo was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational last Saturday.
Guajardo placed third overall and second among collegiate runners in the field of 119 competitors. Her 6-kilometer time of 23:10.6 ranks 14th in team history and was less than 10 seconds behind the winner of Saturday's race. She has now cracked the program's top 15 in four of seven collegiate races at that distance.
Led by Guajardo, the Foresters finished sixth out of 11 teams at the invitational. She has been the team's top runner in all four meets this season.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league office.
