Forester Men Finish Fourth, Women Sixth at Gene Davis Invitational

Junior Philip Wilson increased his number of entries on the program's top-25 list to three and helped lead the Lake Forest men to a fourth-place finish at Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational on Saturday. The Forester women placed sixth in an 11-team field.

Wilson was second on the team and sixth out of 113 runners on Saturday with an 8-kilometer time of 26:25.39, which ranks 19th in team history. As they have been in every race so far this season, the Foresters were led by senior Jorge Villanueva, who was the runner-up at the meet after completing the course in a career-best 25:39.15, the program's third best mark. Freshman Christian Reyes was 22nd in 27:27.55, senior Alphonse Wilson 34th with a time of 27:52.13, and junior Dillon Rice 54th in 28:27.79.

The Forester women were led for the fourth time in as many races this year by sophomore Yaneli Guajardo, who was third at the meet with a 6-kilometer time of 23:10.60. That performance ranks 14th in team history and she already owns four of the program's top 15 times. Senior Emily Stauffer was next on the squad and 29th overall in 24:44.09 and junior Estafania Ramirez finished 51st in 25:50.39. Sophomore Molly Gniady was also in the top half of the 119 finishers, taking home 58th place in 26:16.61, and junior Olivia Parrott rounded out the team's top five with a 68th-place time of 26:48.95.

Carroll University won the women's race with 39 points, 15 fewer than runner-up St. Norbert College. Lake Forest had a score of 168 to take sixth. On the men's side Carroll's 77 points were good for second place behind the Wisconsin Track Club's 69. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh was third with 94 and the Foresters fourth with 111.

Lake Forest will compete in the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational next Saturday.
