The 2014 All-Midwest Conference volleyball teams were released on Thursday and Lake Forest College's Braittany Avonts was a First Team selection while teammate Paige Jespersen was named to the Second Team.
Avonts, a sophomore middle blocker who also earned First Team All-MWC honors last year, leads the league and ranks 33rd in the nation with a .345 hitting percentage. Her 281 kills and 68 blocks are also team-highs and she ranks third in the conference in kills per set and eighth in blocks per set. She reached double figures in kills 16 times on the year, including in seven of 10 league contests.
Jespersen, a sophomore outside hitter, leads the Foresters with 34 aces and ranks second on the team with 242 kills and third with 190 digs. She recorded at least 10 kills and digs in a match seven times this season and reached double figures in kills in half of the team's 10 league matches.
Lake Forest won in four sets at Ripon College last Friday to clinch a spot in this weekend's four-team MWC Tournament with a 7-3 league record. The event will be hosted by league champion Cornell College and the Foresters will take on Cornell in the semifinals Friday night at 7:00.
