The student-athlete experience at Lake Forest College is more than just practice and competition, and this year extends across the country and, in some cases, around the world. Forester teams are like families and their members support each other and the community in numerous ways.
This fall, student-athletes at the College are attending classes remotely, finding ways to keep in touch with one another, and continuing to be active and successful Foresters. The "Highlights from Home" series gives them an opportunity to share their experiences.
Senior Grace Gould and junior Katie Wegrecki sent in today's update frm women's tennis.
We both moved into apartments in Highwood, Illinois, together starting in August! While it was still warm, we explored different restaurants and cafes while sitting outside.
A highlight of the past couple months has been being able to teach tennis to young kids at the Lake Bluff Park District. We taught every Thursday and Friday outside and were still able to have fun and teach while staying safe.
Since then, we have gone on walks, played tennis, biked, and kept busy with schoolwork.
Grace is currently looking into graduate programs for speech pathology, working hard in classes, and learning how to play the piano!
Katie is focusing on her classes and starting to look at possible jobs/internships to gain experience in occupational therapy! She is also participating in choir and keeping up the ukulele.
We both participated in the last online speed networking event. We made several connections and learned how to create our elevator pitches!
We have gone on a few fun outdoor outings with our teammates that are also living at the apartments such as going to the beach, apple orchard, pumpkin patch, and a day trip walking around Lake Geneva!
Our team has stayed in touch from across the world through several zoom meetings. We all miss each other during this challenging time and can't wait to see each other again safely soon.
Stay safe and go Foresters!
