The student-athlete experience at Lake Forest College is more than just practice and competition, and this year extends across the country and, in some cases, around the world. Forester teams are like families and their members support each other and the community in numerous ways.
This fall, student-athletes at the College are attending classes remotely, finding ways to keep in touch with one another, and continuing to be active and successful Foresters. The "Highlights from Home" series gives them an opportunity to share their experiences.
Today's update on women's tennis comes from senior Emma Wang.
One of the most fun ways we are trying to stay updated on each other's lives is through the "Take Over Tuesday" segments on the Lake Forest College Tennis Instagram account. It is so fun to see a different member take us through their daily routine!
There are a few members from the women's and men's teams that live near the Lake Forest area. Many of us are rooming with a teammate, which has been a blast!
We are all staying active in our own way. Some of us have been able to consistently play tennis and others have been doing different types of exercise like running, lifting, HIIT, etc. One of my favorite workouts to do since I've been home is yoga sculpt.
Our seniors are staying busy with internships, job applications, and graduate school applications. Although we can't all be together during this exciting time in our lives, we are all trying to support each other from a distance and celebrate one another when opportunities come along.
Every two weeks the team hops on a zoom call with Coach and we focus the discussion on a different topic. This week we had some of our amazing alumnae come and give career advice. It was such a fantastic opportunity to ask questions and for our new players to hear some of our alumnae's' favorite memories.
We try our best to find a time that works with everyone's time zones to get on zoom and catch up. Many of our conversations often circle back to our favorite memories like singing on long road trips, playing at Madison for Midwest Conference, and Spring Break (pictured)!
We are all crossing our fingers about returning to campus and having the opportunity to play together again!
