Playing against Ripon College for the third consecutive Saturday, the Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 68-41 by the visiting Red Hawks.
Forester senior guard Kelsey Burton was honored on the court before the final home game of her career. She went on to lead the team in scoring with 11 points and tie the program record with nine steals. Burton will enter next Sunday's season finale ranked third in team history with 1,188 career points, fourth with 605 rebounds, seventh with 167 steals, and 10th with 221 assists.
Freshman guard Maurissa Edwards, sophomore guard Katie Neher, and sophomore center Katie Fagan were next on the squad with seven points apiece and Fagan led the home team with six rebounds.
The Foresters shot just 27.9 percent from the field in the game while Ripon was at 43.4 percent. The Red Hawks also had a 41-26 edge in rebounds and forced 28 of the game's 51 turnovers.
Ripon led 17-7 after the opening period and 32-21 at halftime. The visitors broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Foresters 25-5.
Lake Forest will close out the season at Knox College next Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
