The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 91-43 by George Fox University at the Hoop N Surf Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Sunday. Freshman guard Samantha Ney led the Foresters with nine points in the contest.
All of Ney's points were scored on second half three-pointers. Freshman forward Bridget Kelly was next on the team with eight points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field. Kelly also added two assists and two steals in the game. Junior forward K.C. Stralka led the Foresters with five rebounds and senior guard Danielle Canulli with a career-high-tying four steals.
Lake Forest shot 32.7 percent from the field and went to the free throw line just six times in the game. The Foresters were also victimized by 38 turnovers.
The Foresters scored the game's first three points but George Fox netted the next seven and led the rest of the way. Already ahead 30-10, a 19-0 run by the Bruins put the game out of reach. They led 51-12 at halftime and added 10 to their lead during the final 20 minutes.
Lake Forest fell to 3-7 on the season while George Fox, ranked 11th in the nation, remains undefeated afer nine games this year.
The Foresters will resume Midwest Conference play on Saturday, January 3, at Monmouth College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
