The Lake Forest College women's basketball team fell 79-63 at Beloit College Wednesday night. Senior guard Sam Schuring led the Foresters with 17 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
Schuring is now just one assist shy of the program's career record of 372 set by Priscilla Posick in 1990 and she raised her career scoring total to 994.
Junior guard Danielle Canulli finished with 15 points and no other Forester had more than six.
The free throw line was the sight of the scoring discrepancy between the teams. Beloit made 38 of 48 foul shots while Lake Forest connected on 12 of 16 attempts. The Buccaneers also out-rebounded the visitors 44-32 while committing 16 turnovers to the Foresters' 11.
There were six lead changes in the first half. An 18-6 run by the Foresters turned a five-point deficit into a seven-point advantage but Beloit closed out the opening period with a 10-1 run and led 39-37 at halftime.
The home team scored the first eight points of the second half and gradually pulled away. The margin reached 23 points before the Foresters scored the final seven points of the contest.
Lake Forest fell to 5-14 overall and 5-9 in Midwest Conference play. Beloit is now 4-14 overall and 4-9 in the league.
The Foresters will travel to Knox College on Saturday for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off.
