The NCAA Division III Championships concluded on Saturday. Junior Christina Pekar was Lake Forest College's only participant on the day and placed 17th in the preliminary round of the 3-meter diving competition.
Pekar was in 19th place after seven of 11 dives but climbed a spot in the standings in each of the next two rounds. Trailing 16th place and a spot in the consolation final later in the day by 3.40 points with two dives remaining, she closed the gap on each of her next two attempts but finished 0.65 points shy of 16th place.
Pekar, who also finished 18th in the 1-meter diving competition on Thursday, was the only member of the Forester women's team to qualify for the nation meet. The men's team was represented by freshman Sam Freedberg, who placed 43rd in the 200-IM prelims on Wednesday, 21st in the 400-IM prelims on Thursday, and 22nd with a school record time in Friday's 200-butterfly.
It was the first time since 1998 that both Lake Forest teams had national meet qualifiers.
