Lake Forest College softball player Josie Klein claimed her third Midwest Conference Position Performer of the Week award this season on Monday.
Klein belted a pair of home runs in the opener of the Foresters' conference-opening doubleheader at Beloit College. The senior center fielder was 3-for-4 overall in the 12-1 victory and her 2-for-5 performance in game two's 8-7 triumph included a triple, two runs scored, one driven in, and a stolen base.
Lake Forest split a pair of five-inning games with visiting Carthage College on Sunday, taking the opener 12-1 before falling 9-1 in game two. Klein cleared the fence in both contests and finished the day with three runs, four RBI, and four walks.
In the two doubleheaders combined, Klein was 7-for-12 at the plate with four home runs, a triple, and four walks. She scored seven runs, drove in eight, and posted a 2.438 OPS. She now ranks second in the MWC this season with a .450 batting average while leading the conference with a .541 on-base percentage and .883 slugging percentage.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Klein also earned the award on March 14 and March 21 of this season and once in 2021.
