The Lake Forest College men's tennis team was defeated 9-0 at Hope International University on Thursday before winning an exhibition match 8-1 at El Camino College, a two-year school.
Hope International took each of the three doubles matches by the same 8-3 score.
The closest contest in singles came at #2, where Forester freshman Brett O'Brien won the first-set tiebreaker 7-3 but dropped the second set 6-3 and was edged out 10-7 in the third-set super-tiebreaker.
The loss dropped Lake Forest's record on the season to 4-5 while the Royals improved to 4-6.
The Foresters also played an exhibition match at El Camino College on Thursday and won eight of the nine contests. O'Brien won in both singles and doubles play, as did fellow freshman Brant Christensen, sophomore Nick Zazove, and juniors Matt Kacyn and Scott Drier.
Lake Forest will conclude play in California on Friday with a 5:00 (PST) contest at Chapman University.
