Lake Forest College men's tennis player Brett O'Brien was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in a pair of 9-0 victories last weekend.
O'Brien, a freshman, debuted at #1 doubles and #2 singles in the Foresters' season-opening triumph Friday night at Elmhurst College. He and junior Scott Drier doubled up the Bluejays' top tandem 8-4 to start the evening and O'Brien went on to win the first set in singles 6-0 before his opponent was forced to retire.
Lake Forest hosted and defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College Saturday evening and O'Brien continued to fill the #1 doubles and #2 singles spots in the lineup. After teaming up with junior Matt Kacyn on an 8-0 win in doubles, O'Brien dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory in singles.
Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information.
