Lake Forest College men's tennis player John Adams was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday after helping lead the Foresters to four victories in as many matches in Hilton Head, South Carolina, last week.
Adams, a senior, began the week by winning 8-1 at #1 doubles and 6-0, 6-0 at #1 singles in a 7-2 victory over Heidelberg University on Monday.
After rain cancelled the Foresters' match on Tuesday, they defeated College of Wooster 5-4 and Edgewood College 7-2 on Wednesday. Adams and freshman Mike Riley prevailed 8-2 in the morning and 8-1 in the evening at the top spot in the doubles lineup. Adams defeated Wooster's best singles player 6-2 in both sets but dropped a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) decision against Edgewood.
Lake Forest concluded its Spring Break trip with a 6-3 triumph over Gettysburg College on Thursday. Adams and Riley won 8-3 in doubles and Adams finished off his week with a 6-2, 6-7 (1-7), 1-0 (10-8) win in singles.
Adams is now 7-4 in singles and 6-5 in doubles this spring. He played at the top position in the doubles and singles lineups in each contest.
