Select members of the Lake Forest College men's tennis team were in Indianapolis, Indiana, over the weekend competing in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Tournament. Forester senior John Adams won his first two matches to reach the round of 32.
Adams, the #32 seed in the tournament defeated Nathan Koelper of host Wabash College 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 128 and eliminated Augustana College's Colin Arnold in the round of 64. He was unable to get past #8 Wade Heerboth of Kenyon College, falling 6-3, 6-4 in the third round.
Lake Forest freshman Mike Riley also won in the opening round, coming from behind to defeat John Urshan of Greenville College 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. He was then defeated 6-1 in both sets by #26 Kevin Ye of Kenyon.
Forester freshman John Snider won 6-0, 6-3 in the first round of the "B" singles main draw and 6-2, 4-6, (10-5) in the second before falling in the round of 16.
Fellow sophomore Tony Mykhaylovskyy defeated Ted Staros of Monmouth College 6-3, 6-1 to reach the second round of the "B" Consolation bracket.
"As a whole, we produced some good results this weekend," began Lake Forest Head Coach Michael Raymond. "The guys worked hard during fall training and to put some wins on the board in Indy was nice. The hope now is that we learn from our matches, good or bad, and come back better prepared for our spring season."
The Foresters will begin their spring season against Wabash College on February 9.
