The Lake Forest College men's soccer team closed out the spring 2021 season with a 3-1 loss at Carthage College Thursday night.
The visitors took the lead less than eight minutes into the contest when senior midfielder Matt McCullough netted his first career goal in his last game as a Forester.
The Firebirds tied the score 18 minutes later and the game was still knotted at one at halftime, despite Carthage's 7-3 advantage in shots.
Lake Forest outshot the home team 6-3 in the final 45 minutes but Carthage scored on two of those three shots. The first goal came less than five minutes into the period and the Firebirds added an insurance goal on a penalty kick at 66:23.
The Foresters finished the spring 3-1-0 while Carthage improved to 3-0-0.
