The Forester men's soccer team earned its second 1-0 victory over Ripon College this year on Tuesday, edging out the Red Hawks on Farwell Field.
Not only was the score the same as the teams' meeting at Ripon on April 10, the player responsible for the goal was also the same. Junior Erik Truitt has now scored in all three of Lake Forest's games this spring after his tally at the 39:08 mark on Tuesday. Junior Bradley Van Egeren launched a pass from just on the other side of midfield that landed just outside the box. Truitt came sprinting in from the left side, fielded the ball on a bounce, and sent it into the right side of the goal.
The assist represented the first career point for Van Egeren.
As they have in each of the team's three games this season, three Forester goalkeepers contributed to the shutout effort. Senior Jan Roessler played the entire first half, made a pair of saves, and was credited with the victory. Freshman Szymon Mocarski and sophomore Giuseppe Scalera split the second half with Mocarski making the period's only save.
Lake Forest is now 3-0-0 and Ripon 0-3-0 on the year.
The Foresters will travel to Carthage College on Thursday for a 7:00 kickoff.
