Lake Forest College's John Cappuccitti was named Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year on Friday and was joined by Ellis Rutili and Elyas Ingram as First Team All-MWC selections. Fellow Foresters Gaston Aubert and Colin Jackson earned Second Team accolades.
Cappuccitti, a junior midfielder, finished the season with 29 points on 11 goals and seven assists. He led the conference in points and goals per game and ranked third in assists per contest. He also led the MWC in points (21) and assists (7) while tying for first in goals (7) during the league's nine-game schedule. Lake Forest has now had the MWC Offensive Player of the Year five times in the last six seasons and Cappuccitti joins Dylan Hartman (2015) and Mahir Mameledzija (2011-13) as Forester recipients of the award.
Rutili, a senior midfielder, scored seven goals and assisted on two others for 16 points in as many games this season. He ranked seventh in the conference in goals per game and tied-for-ninth in points per contest. He had 10 points on four goals and two assists during conference play. Rutili was a Second Team All-MWC selection last year.
Ingram, a junior defender, led the league with 10 assists on the season, including six during conference play. It was his third time on the list of the best players in the MWC, having also made the First Team as a midfielder in 2014 and the Second Team as a defender last year.
Aubert, a sophomore forward, ranked tied-for-sixth in the conference with eight goals and 19 points on the season. He matched Cappuccitti's league-high seven scores and ranked second with 16 points against the other members of the MWC.
Jackson, a senior, moved to defender in 2016 after spending his first three seasons on the team at midfielder and forward. He scored a pair of goals on the year and helped the Forester defense allow just 73 shots on goal, which was tied for the lowest total in the league.
Lake Forest posted an 11-8-0 overall record on the season and claimed the program's third conference championship in the last five years and the 17th overall with an 8-1-0 mark during league play. The Foresters have not had more than this year's five All-MWC selections since 1995.
