The Lake Forest College men's soccer team won 1-0 in
double-overtime at Augustana College Thursday night to extend its
winning streak to four matches. Freshman Charlie Brey scored the
only goal of the contest in the 108th minute.
The Foresters out-shot the home team 8-6 in the first half but
allowed seven shots while attempting just two in the next 45
minutes. Augustana had two shot to Lake Forest's one in the first
10-minute overtime period and the Foresters had the only three
attempts in the second.
Brey's first career goal was unassisted and occurred after 107
minutes and 43 seconds of play.
The shutout was the first in the career of Forester junior
goalkeeper Melvin Flores, who finished with a season-high seven
saves in the contest.
Lake Forest is now 8-4-0 on the season and will host another
non-conference game against Finlandia University Sunday afternoon
at 2:00.
