Senior Anthony Collado was the Men's Open Singles and Doubles champion and several other Lake Forest players excelled at the Circle City Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana, over the weekend.

Collado defeated another Forester, junior Leo Canales, 21-11, 21-9 in the championship match. Collado and Canales were partners in doubles and posted a 21-7, 21-8 victory over juniors Ricardo Palma and Carter Kounovsky in the final.

Lake Forest also had finalists in Open Singles and Doubles on the women's side. Junior Kyra Vidas was the runner-up in singles, prevailing twice before falling 21-11, 21-4 in the championship. She and senior Sophia Goss came out on top in doubles, coming back to win the final 13-21, 21-10, 11-4.

Palma, junior Max Roberts, and freshman Chandler Straw each won once in the Men's Open Singles division, Palma in the quarterfinals and Roberts and Straw in the round of 16. Roberts and Straw also recorded a quarterfinal victory in Open Doubles.

Sophomore Monica Redfern turned in the Forester women's team's only other victory in Open Singles, taking her round of 16 match before being eliminated by the eventual champion in the quarterfinals. In doubles juniors Bethany Fyffe and Frankie Corrado advanced to the semifinal before falling to Vidas and Goss.

Junior Jon Vargas and David Carrillo added runner-up finishes in the Men's B and C Singles divisions, respectively, while sophomore Xavier Higa was a semifinalist in the B bracket. Carrillo also came out on top in both of his matches with sophomore Carter Ostrander in C Doubles, which was a three-team round-robin competition.

The Lake Forest women will take on several of their alumni and other players in the area in next Saturday's Women's Invitational Singles competition in the Sports and Recreation Center. The Men's Invitational Doubles event is slated for the following Saturday.

The next tournament on the Foresters' schedule is the United States Handball Association National Collegiate Championships at Arizona State University February 22-26.
