The Forester women's tennis team traveled to Cornell College on Saturday and returned with a convincing 9-0 victory.
Lake Forest did not drop a game at two of the three positions in the doubles lineup. Senior Emma Wang and freshman Margaret Bugnacki blanked their opponents at #2 while freshman MJ Campos and sophomore Natalia Leite did the same at #3. Seniors Julie Lord and Tyranny Miller added an 8-3 triumph at #1.
Miller was the first to finish in singles and her 6-0, 6-1 victory pulled the visitors within a point of clinching the match. Lord took both sets 6-0 at the top of the lineup to earn that point. Campos came out on top 6-0, 6-2 at #3 and Wang won both sets 6-1 at #3. The closest match of the day was at #5 singles, where Bugnacki prevailed 6-4, 6-1, and Leite finished off the contest with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at #6.
It was the first Midwest Conference North Division match of the year for the Foresters, who are now 3-1 overall. Cornell fell to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Lake Forest will host another conference contest against St. Norbert College Sunday morning at 10:30.
