Sophomore Allison Watts and freshman Silvia Kulbokas were victorious in doubles and singles play but the Forester women's tennis team was defeated 5-4 by visiting Principia College Friday night.
Watts and Kulbokas defeated their opponents 8-3 at #2 doubles but Principia prevailed at #1 and #3 to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Lake Forest pulled back ahead when Watts won 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles and senior Lucia Stumbras did not drop a game in her victory at #3. After the Panthers earned the point at the top spot in the lineup, Kubokas finished off a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at #4 to give the Foresters a 4-3 lead. Principia then clinched the match with victories at #5 and #6.
It was the first match of the second semester for the Foresters, who went 8-4 in the fall. Principia improved to 1-4.
Lake Forest's next four matches will be played during the team's Spring Break trip to Orlando, Florida. The Foresters will face the College of St. Scholastica on March 12, SUNY Geneseo and Goucher College on March 13, and Berry College on March 15.
