Lake Forest was 4-0-1 and outcored opponents 24-5 in the shortened spring 2021 season.
The Foresters posted a 10-6-3 overall record and qualified for the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament with a mark of 5-2-2 in league play in 2019. Hiwa Brown was named First Team All-MWC and four of her teammates earned second team honors.
Lake Forest is now 39-30-9 overall and 20-10-6 in conference play in Vail's five seasons with the program. Players on the team have earned a dozen All-MWC honors during that span, including the 2016 MWC Defensive Player of the Year award. They were also named Academic All-MWC 57 times with a program record 17 of those honors coming in 2017 and again in 2019.
Vail has coached at various levels for Schwaben Athletic Club in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, for 10 of the last 12 years and spent the other two seasons with Pegasus Soccer Club in Deerfield, Illinois. She has also worked with the New Trier Trevians, Greater Libertyville Soccer Association, and Louisville Soccer Association.
In addition to her coaching experience at the club level, Vail served as a volunteer assistant at North Park University in 2006 and Buffalo Grove High School in 2004 and 2005.
A graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, Vail was a two-time all-conference and all-area selection while leading the team to a pair of to-four finishes at the state tournament. She went on to play three years of NCAA Division I soccer at the University of Louisville. Vail's playing experience at the club level also took her to international events in Denmark and Ontario.
Vail resides in nearby Lake Bluff, Illinois.
