Lake Forest College women's soccer player Paityn Tabor recently secured an internship with the Midwest Conference and is contracted to provide website content assistance for the league this spring.
Tabor, a senior midfielder, completed her four-year career with the Foresters in the fall. She scored a pair of goals during the season, served as a team captain, and was the MWC Elite 20 Award winner for the second year in a row for owning the highest cumulative grade point average of any player at the four-team MWC Tournament. The Spanish and journalism (self-designed) major has also earned Academic All-MWC status each year the award was presented and was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honoree in 2022.
In addition to her accolades in soccer, Tabor received the MWC Ruth Peterson Award, which is presented annually to the female scholar-athlete in the league who earned the league's highest-grade point average during her junior year. Tabor has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout her collegiate career.
In addition to being successful on the field and in the classroom, Tabor conducted weekly interviews with Head Football Coach Jim Catanzaro throughout the fall and currently serves as a webcast announcer and reporter for the department.
The Midwest Conference, through the NCAA Strategic Initiatives Grant, established a four-month position for a website content intern and contacted league members looking for individuals interested in the role. Tabor was among the applicants and was selected for the position last month. She started on February 1.
"The ability to provide MWC students with the opportunity to contribute to the work of the league office is mutually beneficial," said Heather Benning, the league's executive director. "The students learn how the Conference side of our website platform interfaces with our member institution sites - diversifying their knowledge of website content management in college athletics, and as a league office we are able to provide member services in a more timely manner with the addition of human resource hours."
"I am extremely excited to have secured the position of website content intern for the Midwest Conference this Spring," began Tabor. "I am looking forward to the ways the internship will allow me to grow, not only in terms of the work I will be doing, but more broadly as a woman in sports. As someone who plans to pursue a career in sports, having this experience under my belt will be invaluable."
