The Lake Forest College men's soccer team won last weekend's Midwest Conference Tournament and will now head to Wheaton College for the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Wheaton will host Lake Forest at 5:00 p.m. in one of Friday's opening round matches. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will take on Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the other round one game at 7:30 p.m. The winners will face off in the second round Saturday evening at 5:00.
The Foresters are making their fourth trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament and second appearance in the last three years. The team enters the tourney with a 13-6-1 overall record, which includes a 7-3-0 mark in MWC play. Lake Forest has outscored opponents 38-20 on the season and is 7-4-1 away from home.
Wheaton won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season title with a 6-1-0 league record, but a shootout loss to North Central College in the semifinals of the conference tournament forced the Thunder to earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. It is the team's 35th appearance in the event.
Lake Forest and Wheaton have not played each other since the Thunder posted a 1-0 double-overtime victory in the Foresters' 2006 season finale.
