Lake Forest College golfer James Johnson was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday for his performance at last the Shenandoah University Spring Fling in Florida last Thursday and Saturday.
Johnson tied for fifth place out of 55 golfers at the event. He finished Thursdays opening round with a score of 80 before carding a 74 to move up eight spots in the individual standings on Friday. His second round included three birdies, including two of the four par-5s on the 6,665-yard Legends Course at Orange Lake.
The 36-hole score of 154 Johnson posted n the tournament kept his scoring average for the season at 77.0, which will go down as the fourth-lowest mark in program history.
