The 2023-24 season will be the third for Ryan Davis as head coach and ninth as a member of the Lake Forest College staff.
Davis led the Foresters to a 17-15 record in Midwest Conference play over the last two seasons. The team is now 95-91 overall and 73-49 in the MWC since Davis joined the staff and has advanced to five of the last seven four-team MWC Tournaments.
Alex Knight led the league in scoring the 2022-23 conference schedule and was named First Team All-MWC. Teammates Johnny Roeser and Elijah Bull were also among the league leagues, ranking first in rebounds and second in assists, respectively. Six different Foresters have been named All-MWC a combined nine times and members of the team have earned a total of 43 Academic All-MWC honors since Davis joined the staff.
Lake Forest advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history in 2018-19. Lake Forest's scoring average of 83.6 points per game that season is easily a program record and the Foresters' 269 three-pointers shattered the previous mark of 220. Seventeen program records have been broken or tied in the last eight seasons.
In the spring and summer of 2021 Davis also served as an advanced scout for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA. In this role, he was responsible for watching opponents live and putting together scouting reports for the Lynx staff.
Prior to coming to Lake Forest, Davis spent two years as an assistant coach at the University of Chicago Lab School in Chicago, Illinois. U-High won back-to-back Independent School League championships in those two seasons.
While coaching at the University of Chicago Lab School, Davis also served as a coach with Nike Meanstreets, an AAU program in Chicago. He assisted in player development, on court coaching, and recruiting.
Davis graduated from the University of Chicago in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He was a member of the men's basketball team at Chicago in 2011-12. A native of Deerfield, Illinois, he graduated from Deerfield High School before spending a post graduate year at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.
Davis and his fiancé Hannah Ballard reside in nearby Highwood, Illinois.
