Men's basketball player Jeff Beck was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after leading Lake Forest to a 2-1 record in the previous seven days.
Beck, a senior guard, scored a game-high 22 points in the Foresters' 68-55 loss at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday. He made four three-pointers and added four rebounds in the contest.
Lake Forest salvaged a split at the Trinity Classic by defeating Southwestern University 53-50 on Sunday. Beck led the team with 13 points and 10 rebounds for his second career double-double. He knocked down a pair of three-pointers and also dished out three assists in the game.
The Foresters resumed Midwest Conference play with a 65-56 triumph over visiting Ripon College on Wednesday and Beck paced the home team with 20 points. He added four three-pointers and four rebounds to his weekly totals.
Beck averaged 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game on the week. He leads the 2012-13 Foresters with 17.8 points, 4.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game and is shooting 43.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Beck also earned the award once as a sophomore.
