Softball player Kristi Gandy was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her hitting and pitching performances in the team's victory in game two of a doubleheader at Wheaton College on Saturday.
Gandy, a freshman, went 2-for-4 with RBI singles in the first and fifth innings of the Foresters' 9-4 victory. She was also the starting pitcher and surrendered eight base hits but only one run in four innings of work. She struck out a pair of batters and did not issue a walk in her first career win.
Lake Forest fell 7-6 in the opener of the doubleheader. Gandy was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning and her pinch runner eventually scored to tie the game at six.
Gandy leads the Foresters with 17 hits, a .515 batting average, .556 on-base percentage, and .636 slugging percentage.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
