Softball player Whitney Leiderman was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her performance at the Midwest Conference Classic the previous Saturday.
Leiderman, a freshman outfielder, belted her first career home run in the team's first of three victories on the day, a 10-2 triumph over St. Norbert College. She also doubled, drew a walk, scored twice, drove in a pair of runs, and stole a base in the contest.
Lake Forest defeated Carroll University 11-3 in its second game of the day. Leiderman was 0-for-3 in the game but scored three runs, walked twice, and stole two bases.
Finally, in a 3-1 victory over Beloit College to end the day, Leiderman collected two more hits and another stolen base.
Leiderman was 4-for-9 with a team-high five runs scored and four stolen bases on the day.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
