The Lake Forest College men's tennis team prevailed 8-1 at St. Norbert College and 9-0 at Ripon College on Sunday.
The Foresters won all six of their doubles matches on the day. Sophomore Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and senior Chase Garber doubled up the Green Knights' top team 8-4 and defeated the best from Ripon 8-2. Sophomore Jacob Tilton teamed up with senior Brant Christensen at #2, where they won 8-2 in the first match and 8-5 in the second. Senior Oliver Gallego was victorious 8-1 at #3 in both matches, partnering with Zach Cho at St. Norbert and Matthew Pawlowski against the Red Hawks.
Vyshyvanyuk started both of his victories atop the singles lineup by taking the first set 6-2. He triumphed 6-4 in the second at St. Norbert and edged out the top player from Ripon 7-5. Garber rolled 6-0, 6-1 in the first match before earning a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win later on. Tilton blanked both of his opponents 6-0 in the opening set at #3 and won 6-3 against the Knights and 6-2 versus the Red Hawks in the second sets. Cho was at #4 for both matches, defeating his first opponent 6-4, 6-1 and prevailing by the opposite set scores in the second. Gallego won at #6 at St. Norbert while Pawlowski and senior Aidan Burke posted victories at #5 and #6, respectively, at Ripon.
Lake Forest is now 5-2 overall this spring and the Foresters completed the regular season with a 4-0 record in Midwest Conference North Division play. Both of Sunday's opponents finished 1-3 in the league and will face off in the semifinals of the MWC North Division Tournament at St. Norbert on Thursday. Lake Forest will host the winner on Saturday for the division title and a spot in the MWC Championship Match a week later.
