Catanzaro Completes Coaching Staff for 2013

Catanzaro Completes Coaching Staff for 2013

Lake Forest College Head Football Coach Jim Catanzaro recently finished filling out his assistant coaching staff for the 2013 season. They are currently working with players during the team's allotted spring practices.

In addition to his head coaching duties, Catanzaro will also coordinate the defense for the eighth year in a row. Returning staff members on that side of the football include defensive line coach Tom Myers (13th year), outside linebackers coach Steve Little (5th), defensive assistant Dean Storkan (3rd), safeties coach Bryan McNulty (2nd), and outside linebackers coach Nick Nikolich, who will also coordinate the Foresters' special teams.

The offensive staff has been nearly completely revamped. The only coaches returning from the 2012 season are running backs coach Mike Dau '58 and wide receivers coach Chris Noble. It will be Dau's 50th year with the program and his 22nd as an assistant coach. He also played two seasons and was the head coach from 1966-91. Noble is in his second year on staff.

Mike Pease, a quality control coach in 2012, will direct the kickers and punters.

A familiar face returned to campus this winter when 2012 graduate Luke Butts was hired as cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator. Butts was a four-year starter and All-Midwest Conference safety during his Forester playing career.

Mike Arthur will take over as Lake Forest's offensive coordinator after spending the last seven seasons at NCAA Division II Virginia State University, where he served as offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Joining Arthur on the offensive staff are Garrett Riley and Jim Voutiritsas. Riley will coach the quarterbacks and serve as the staff's video coordinator. He was a collegiate quarterback at Texas Tech University and Stephen F. Austin State University and coached the running backs at Augustana College in 2012. Voutiritsas, who will direct the Foresters' tight ends in 2013, has coached as various levels since 1989, including 13 of the last 16 years at Warren Township High School.

"I am extremely excited about the coaching staff we have put together," began Catanzaro. "They have already contributed some fresh thinking and energetic effort in developing our current team. Additionally, they are making great efforts in helping identify and recruit the next great class of Foresters. Their varying backgrounds, will continue to develop the diverse approach that we take in molding our team."

Lake Forest will open the 2013 season at home against Concordia University Chicago on Saturday, September 7.
