Lake Forest College women's golfer Allie Girard was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her performance in a dual match against Wisconsin Lutheran College in North Carolina on Tuesday.
Girard, a senior, was 10 strokes better than anyone else in the field with a score of 81 on the 5,856-yard, par-71 course at Southern Pines Golf Club. She turned in the event's only birdie when she made her third shot on the 340-yard, par-4 opening hole. Girard also recorded six pars and was no worse than bogey on any hole, despite cold and windy conditions. Lake Forest posted a score of 370, defeating the Warriors by 126 shots.
With a scoring average of 82.54 in eight events this season, Girard is on pace to break her own program record by a full two strokes per round. This was her third individual victory of the year and she placed in the top five in each of the other five events.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Girard also earned the award on September 29 and once during her sophomore season.
