Nate VanMetre

Nate VanMetre

Nate VanMetre joined the Forester coaching staff in 2019 and, after working directly with the team's defensive ends in his first season, now oversees the entire defensive line.

Forester defensive ends combined for 130 tackles, including 18 sacks and 30 tackles for loss, for a defense that surrendered the fewest points in the league in 2019. Jordan McInerney led the unit and was named MWC Defensive Line MVP and First Team All-American after ranking among the top four in the nation in sacks and tackles for loss per game.

VanMetre served in the United States Marine Corps from 2014-19, reaching the rank of sergeant and infantry squad leader. While in the Marines he acted as the physical fitness representative for his battalion and oversaw 13 personnel at a nuclear weapons facility.

Prior to entering the Marines, VanMetre was an assistant coach for a season at South Elgin High School, where he worked with the defensive lineman on the varsity team and coordinated the defense for the JV squad.

VanMetre's coaching career began during his final semester as a student-athlete at Monmouth College, where he served as the assistant defensive line coach during spring practices prior to graduating with a bachelor's degree in sociology in 2013. He finished his four seasons as a Fighting Scot with 74 tackles, including 16.0 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks.

He resides just north of the state line in Kenosha.
