Lake Forest College football player Jagan Cleary was named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday after throwing five touchdown passes in the Foresters' 35-0 victory at Knox College on Saturday.
Cleary completed 22 of 29 passes for 311 yards in the second five-touchdown performance of his Lake Forest career. The senior's quarterback efficiency rating on the day was 215.94, which ranks sixth in program history. Cleary's 53-yard scoring strike to senior wide receiver Chris Edomwande on the first drive of the game made him the program's career leader in touchdown passes, breaking a tie with Pete Scaffidi, and he now has 60. Cleary and Scaffidi are the only signal-callers in team annals to throw for five touchdowns in a game with each accomplishing the feat twice.
Cleary leads the MWC with 265.2 passing yards per game and ranks third in the league with a dozen touchdown passes at the mid-point of the regular season.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league office. Cleary also earned the award once as a freshman.
