Lake Forest College To Host Benny Watters Community Day on Saturday, September 24

Lake Forest College To Host Benny Watters Community Day on Saturday, September 24

Join the Lake Forest College football team for Benny Watters Community Day and Play For A Cure Day on Saturday, September 24 as the Foresters host Monmouth College at 1:00 p.m. at Farwell Field.

Benny Watters Community Day is in honor of the football team's little brother Benny Watters (pictured right), a Friends of Jaclyn adoptee, who passed away in 2010.  Benny was diagnosed with a DIPG on January 18, 2008 a few months before his 3rd birthday. Just two months after receiving the diagnosis, a non-profit foundation, Benny's World, was established in March of 2008 by his family.  The foundation seeks to fund research to find a cure for pediatric brain stem tumors, specifically targeting Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). Please stop by Benny's Lemonade Stand at Saturday's game to support Benny's World.

In addition to honoring Benny, as members of the Midwest Conference, Lake Forest College will also recognize and support the Play For A Cure Initiative. Playing For A Cure aims to promote awareness for early detection of cancer and raise funds dedicated to cancer research and detection. During our annual Play For A Cure events, Forester athletes and coaches participate in the events by wearing pink uniforms or athletic accessories. In addition, the College's Relay for Life committee is on hand to collect donations for the participating team's Relay for Life fundraising effort. All spectators are encouraged to wear pink and support the cause! Together with your help, and the American Cancer Society, we can make a difference.

Attention Youths!  Wear your team and/or camp jersey and get into the game for free. There will also be halftime contest and an opportunity to take photos with Boomer.
