Maggie Zentgraf

Maggie Zentgraf

Maggie Zentgraf enters her second season as Lake Forest College's head women's lacrosse coach in in 2023. It will be her ninth year in the profession and fourth as a head coach at the collegiate level.

Zentgraf was named Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Coach of the Year after leading the 2022 Foresters, who were in their first season as a varsity sport, to an 11-4 overall record and MWLC title with a perfect 5-0 mark in league play. Jenna Doctor was named MWLC Attacker of the Year, goalie Calliope Saban MWLC Defensive Player of the Year, and midfielder Krissy Kuwahara MWLC Rookie of the Year. They were three of Lake Forest's five First Team All-MWLC selections and one more Forester was named Second Team All-MWLC. Eight Lake Forest players finished with at least 21 points and ranked among the top 24 in the conference in that category.

Zentgraf was a coach with Lakeshore Lacrosse since 2015 and was a member of the staff as Hinsdale Central High School coaching staffs from 2016 to 2020. She was named Lakeshore Lacrosse's Coach of the Year in 2019 and, during her time with the club, has worked with multiple athletes who went on to play for top NCAA programs. She also led her team, which is ranked #1 in the state of Illinois, to an undefeated record last fall. Prior to being named the head coach at Hinsdale Central for 2019-20, Zentgraf helped lead the Red Devils to a state title in 2018 and to semifinal appearances in each of her other three years as offensive, midfield, face-off, and substitution coordinator.

Zentgraf's coaching career also includes a stint at Beloit College, where she became the interim head coach during her first year with the program. Beloit was 19-15 overall and 11-6 in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference during her two seasons on staff and the 2015 Buccaneers made the program's only appearance in the four-team MWLC Tournament. Individuals on her teams at Beloit earned six All-MWLC honors and 13 Academic All-MWLC accolades.

Prior to joining the staff at Beloit, Zentgraf began her coaching career as the defensive coordinator at Western Albemarle High School in Virginia, where she helped the Warriors to a regional championship.

An accomplished player herself, Zentgraf earned First-Team All-American honors at Charlottesville High School in Virginia. She went on to play for four years at the University of Notre Dame and helped the Fighting Irish capture a Big East title and make three appearances in the NCAA Tournament. The sociology major was named to the Big East Honor Roll and was a team captain as a senior. Her playing career also included a tryout for the U.S. Lacrosse National Team.
