The Men's and Women's Swim and Dive teams both came out victorious at this year's annual Gene Davis Invitational, hosted by Lawrence University.
Overall, the two genders combined to win sixteen out of a possible thirty-six events.
The first win of the meet went to sophomore Aaron Helms in the 500. In the 200 IM, the Foresters combined for a 1, 2, 3 finish with junior Max Rowland finishing first with his teammates junior Evan Weller and freshman CJ Myers finishing second and third, respectively.
Sophomore Kerry Mullen clocked in the first Forester win of the meet on the women's side; she was the fastest woman of the meet, winning the 50 Freestyle.
Junior Marcus Carter-Buckman swam the next first-place finish for the Forester Men with his winning race in the 100 Backstroke; fellow Forester senior Zeb Thorsen finished right behind him in second for a great 1, 2 finish. Carter-Buckman would later triumph in the 200 Backstroke as well. In the 100 breaststroke, freshman Jackson Sawyer got his hands on the wall first; he went on to win the 200 Breaststroke a few events later.
The Foresters swept the 400 IM event: senior Rachel Trevillian won on the women's side, and Rowland added another victory to his tally for the Invite with his winning performance in the same event. Shortly after their sweep of the 400 IM, the Foresters placed first in both the Women's and Men's 200 Butterfly. Freshman Violet Anderson won for the women, and Helms for the men.
The women claimed victory two out of the three relays of the meet. The foursome of junior Susan Guo, sophomores Kylie Morgan and Mullen, and freshman Violet Anderson combined to win the 200 Freestyle Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay. For the men's team, Rowland, Carter-Buckman, and Thorsen were joined by sophomore Graeme Witte in the 400 Freestyle Relay; this proved to be a winning combination.
To finish out the meet for the Foresters, sophomore Alec Pittman raced to a first place finish in the 1650 Freestyle.
The diving portion of the meet ran in tandem with the swimming competition. Senior Lizzie Johns dove against deep competition and claimed the top spot on the 1-meter boards.
The next meet for the Forester Swim and Dive team is the Carthage Classic at Carthage College on December 5, 6, and 7.
