Jordan McInerney Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Jordan McInerney Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College football player Jordan McInerney was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead his team to a 24-7 victory at Macalester College on Saturday.

McInerney tied for game-high honors with nine tackles, including 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss. The senior defensive end was also credited with three quarterback hurries. Macalester entered the game averaging 148 rushing yards per game but gained just 59 against the Foresters.

McInerney leads the Midwest Conference with 7.0 sacks this year and ranks second in the league with 12.0 tackles for loss and seventh with 43 tackles overall. With 44.5 tackles for loss in his career, McInerney ranks third in team history and is just 5.5 shy of the program record set by Louis Bertuca in 2006. He also ranks fifth in school history with 21.5 career sacks and is now just 10 tackles away from 200.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. McInerney's performance on Saturday also earned him a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week for the second time this season.
