With three conference titles, NCAA postseason participation in three sports, and a milestone handball national championship, 2015-16 was another successful year for Lake Forest College Athletics.
On Thursday, April 21, President Steve Schutt and Athletic Director, Jackie Slaats, hosted a dinner at Glen Rowan House to recognize this year’s “A-Team” honorees. The A-Team is comprised of student-athletes who received straight A’s in either the 2015 fall or 2015 spring semester.
Two Forester teams captured Midwest Conference championships and another advanced to the NCAA Tournament in the fall of 2015. Lake Forest's eight fall sports combined for a .606 overall winning percentage and a .744 mark in league play. Individual Foresters earned 29 all-conference honors and set or tied 24 program records.
Kristen Whitney and Jorge Villanueva ran the fastest times in program history for the Lake Forest College cross country teams at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meet in Rock Island, Illinois, on Saturday. The Forester women placed 15th and the men 18th in the 40-team field.

Junior Rocco DiMatteo led the Forester men to a third-place finish while the Lake Forest women placed fifth. The teams combined for a league-best seven all-conference honors.

The Forester men's cross country team placed 20th and the women 21st in a 50-team field at Augustana College's Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday. Lake Forest sophomore Jonathan Stern, freshman Jorge Villanueva, and junior Sintayehu Regassa finished in less than 27 minutes and posted 8-kilometer times that rank among the top 25 in program history.

The Midwest Conference released its 2015 Cross Country Coaches Preseason Polls on Thursday and the Lake Forest College men were picked to finish second at this year's championship meet while the women's were predicted to be fifth. The teams were third and fifth, respectively, last season.
