Kevin Canty

Kevin Canty

The 2010 season will be Kevin Canty's second on the Lake Forest staff and his fifth as a collegiate assistant coach. He will once again coordinate the offense and work specifically with the team's offensive linemen.

Forester offensive players set or tied eight program records during the 2009 season. Wide receiver Dan Carter caught more passes than any other player in team history and was a First Team All-Midwest Conference selection. An offensive lineman and two other receivers earned Honorable Mention All-MWC accolades.

Canty spent 2008 at the College of St. Scholastica, where he coached the offensive linemen and coordinated the running game. He also served as the video coordinator and strength and conditioning coach. Six offensive players earned All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference honors in the Saints' first year as a varsity program.

Before coaching at the NCAA Division III level, Canty served for two seasons as an assistant coach at Division II Wingate University, his alma mater. He was the Bulldogs' running backs and tight ends coach in 2007 and worked with the offensive linemen in 2006. He coached the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2007, a running back that led the nation in rushing yards by a freshman. He also directed a tight end that was selected to the Cactus Bowl and later signed a NFL contract.

Canty was a three-year letterman and concluded his collegiate career by earning All-American honors and starting in the East Coast Senior Bowl. He played for current Forester head coach Jim Catanzaro, who was an assistant coach at Wingate at the time.

He and his wife Maureen were married in the summer of 2010.
