Football player Joey Valdivia was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead the team to a 42-34 victory over visiting Beloit College on Saturday.
Valdivia, a junior tailback, carried the ball 13 times for a career-high 166 yards and three touchdowns in his first appearance since 2012. He entered the game in the second quarter and had six carries for 28 yards in the period, including one into the end zone with just 4.3 seconds on the clock. Valdivia scored again on a 68-yard run in the third quarter and added another 1-yard touchdown in the fourth. His final attempt of the day covered 30 yards and enabled the Foresters to run out the clock.
Fellow junior tailback Charlie Quinn added 107 yards on 22 carries, giving Lake Forest a pair of 100-yard rushers in a game for the first time since the 2000 season.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
