Football player Pete Scaffidi was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after accounting for four touchdowns in Lake Forest's 35-30 victory over visiting Cornell College the previous Saturday.
Scaffidi, a senior quarterback, completed nine of 15 passes for 207 yards in the game. He also had 13 rushes for another 53 yards. Scaffidi completed a 37-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter, connected on a 63-yard touchdown pass in the second, and ran it in from two yards out again to all but clinch the victory with 63 seconds left in the contest.
On Saturday Scaffidi also became just the fourth player in team history to surpass 5,000 career passing yards. He is already the program's all-time leader with 54 touchdown passes and ranks third with 438 completions and fourth with 5,099 yards.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Scaffidi also earned the award twice last season.
