The Lake Forest College volleyball team dropped a 25-22, 25-19, 25-15 decision at North Central College Tuesday night.
Juniors Mary Gegen and Grace Franz led the visitors with six kills apiece while Gegen and senior Izzi Visnjevak shared team-high honors with eight digs apiece. Freshman Lilly Robinson had a dozen assists, sophomore Juli Barrientos served up a pair of aces, and senior Madison Stevens recorded four blocks.
The opening set was close throughout. A four-point run for the Foresters turned a two-point deficit into a 15-13 lead but the Cardinal responded with four consecutive points of their own. North Central led the rest of the way and converted on the second chance at set point.
Lake Forest led by as many as three early in set two and had a 16-15 advantage before a 9-2 run put the home team ahead by six. The Foresters fought off the first set point opportunity before the Cardinals closed it out.
Lake Forest trailed 14-6 after a 10-0 North Central run in set three and got no closer than six points the rest of the way.
After six consecutive matches away from home, the Foresters will host Concordia University Chicago Friday night at 7:00.
