The Forester women's soccer team had its season come to an abrupt end Friday in the semifinals of the 2015 Midwest Conference Tournament. A 2-1 loss to Knox College ended Lake Forest's season at 14-3-2.
Lake Forest was outshot 6-5 in the first half and trailed 1-0 at halftime.
The home team finally tied the game at the 72:46 mark when senior forward Holly Lesperance took a pass from freshman midfielder Molly Major and sent it into the right side of the goal from 20 yards out.
The Prairie Fire netted what proved to be the game-winning goal less than three minutes later.
The Foresters had a 17-3 advantage in shots in the second half and put eight of those attempts on target but were unable to tie the score again.
Knox advances to Saturday's MWC Tournament final, which will begin at noon.
