The Midwest Conference champion Lake Forest College women's soccer team will travel to Wartburg College (Waverly, Iowa) for the opening rounds of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. The Foresters' first round opponent will be Concordia College (Moorhead, Minn.) and the game will be played Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
Wartburg will host California Lutheran University in the other first round matchup at 5:00 p.m. and the winners will play in the second round Sunday evening at 5:00.
Lake Forest, the Midwest Conference champion, qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004 by winning the MWC Tournament with victories over Grinnell College and St. Norbert College over the weekend. The Foresters are now 14-5-1 on the season and finished their league schedule with a mark of 8-1-1.
Concordia Moorhead is 15-3-2 on the year and won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title with a league mark of 10-1-0. The Cobbers also won the MIAC Tournament and are ranked 15th in the nation (National Soccer Coaches Association of America). They are making their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth in the last seven years.
